Student Motivation

Student motivation refers to the student's interest, desire, compulsion and need to participate and be successful in the learning process. It is generally accepted that student motivation plays an important role in scientific studies.
Highly motivated students to participate actively in the learning process rather than the less motivated students. Motivated students have a positive impact on learning. Take advantage of that opportunity and show intense concentration and effort to the implementation of the learning process. Also, during these positive emotions such as excitement, enthusiasm, optimism and interest in the learning process.
On the other hand, the less motivated they were to become less interested in participating in the learning process. Most of them were physically present but mentally present in the classroom. Often do not actively participate in learning tasks. These students were more likely to stop learning. Less motivated students should be guided to develop a positive attitude towards the learning process.
A teacher or instructor in a significant role in governing the less motivated students. The technique, called attribution retraining, which involves modeling, socialization, and practice exercises, used to restructure the less motivated students. Designed to help students to focus on the task of learning without the fear of failure.
Two types of student motivation, as the external motivation and internal motivation. Extrinsic motivation is defined as the motivation to engage in an activity in order to reward or punishment in order to avoid an external source. Extrinsically motivated students to undertake an activity for the sake of getting a good grade, or teacher approval. Extrinsic motivation is again divided into two sections, such as social motivation, and financial motivation. Social motivations include approval of teachers, parents and friends. High-quality, future educational and job security under a financial interest.
Internal motivation refers to engaging in an activity in its own interest, pleasure and gives pleasure. Specifically, a student who is motivated by itself performs the action learning allows. Compared to external motivation, internal motivation rather desirable, since this is the motivation to participate in the learning process is the pleasure of learning without considering the consequences.
